Pokeball opens up to allow pokemon to be put inside. There is a lever inside the pokeball that closes the pokeball. You can throw the opened pokeball at the pokemon and the ball will close on the pokemon as if catching the pokemon. A string is attached to pokeball to go back into your hand after thrown.
